Amy Tan's book The Joy Luck Club explores the relationship between four Chinese women and their American born daughters.
You will be asked to complete a task that will enhance your experience of reading The Joy Luck Club! You will be introduced to the geography of China and given a basic introduction to its history, particularly the history surrounding the life of the mothers before they moved to the United States.
You will then produce a piece of writing that will reflect what you have learned about China's history and geography. It should also reflect your reading of the novel. It should be creative and it should be fun--almost like keeping a diary of your voyage to China (only you never have to leave your desk).
